WHERE ARE THE WINTER TROUT?

ONE OF THE THINGS I LOOK FORWARD TO EVERY WINTER IS THE MIGRATION OF BIG TROUT INSIDE THE BAYS AND SOUNDS OF THE CENTRAL GULF COAST. UNFORTUNATELY, THEY HAVENT BEEN AROUND IN THE NUMBERS USUALLY SEEN. I'M FINDING THEM IN HALF THE SPOTS I CAN USUALLY COUNT ON FINDING THEM FROM THANKSGIVING THROUGH APRIL AND WHEN I DO FIND THEM, I MAY ONLY CATCH A FEW INSTEAD OF THE 25 TO 50 I'D NORMALLY EXPECT. WHAT'S EVEN STRANGER, IS THAT THOSE I AM CATCHING, ARE REALLY BIG. i'VE CAUGHT MORE TROUT OVER 24' THIS WINTER THAN THE LAST THREE COMBINED - GO FIGURE. iT'S LIKELY THE RESULT OF THE HORRIBLE RED TIDE WE ENOUNTERED HERE LAST SPRING AND SUMMER. i'M HOPING THAT THEY ARE JUST HANGING OFFSHORE IN DEEPER WATER AS THE AMOUNT OF BAIT INSHORE WAS IMPACTED BY RED TIDE AND WILL BE BACK NEXT WINTER.
